Entrance hall to block of flats in Mayfair, London
Locations: London (UK)
Architect: Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates
Client: Capital & Mayfair Shaw Ltd
Product: tiles, shades of bronze
The London office of international architects Kohn Pedersen Fox approached the ceramist Christine Jetten as an advisor to look for a manufacturer of tiles who could reproduce the effect of ‘battered bronze’ for the entrance hall of a complex of flats in the London district of Mayfair. We carried out a short development process and the architect approved the samples. The hand-formed tiles have the same height and four different widths and in combination with the subtle glaze effect developed specially for this project, resulted in a richly nuanced bronze-coloured look. The tiles in the entrance hall continue upwards with numbers impressed in the clay indicating the floor levels.
