Artists frequently approach Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum to produce pieces in ceramics. Their interest in our company may be motivated by a number of different aspects. In addition to the expressive quality of the materials, the various techniques and the hand-painted work, the added value of the cultural historic context may also play a part. Together we search for the best possible expression and execution of the original idea and the dialogue that takes place during the design process creates space to experiment with the possibilities our company is able to offer. Together we strive to achieve the best possible results. We learn a lot from this form of collaboration and the new insights and capabilities we acquire during the process are essential for the company's continued innovation.
Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum has a bold and inspiring collection that ranges from contemporary designs by leading international designers such as Hella Jongerius, Studio Job and Jurgen Bey to the famous traditional decorative pottery. This is the tangible result of the company's vision, at the heart of which is the preservation and renewal of traditional craftsmanship. The collection pieces, which are produced by hand, with the utmost care and to the highest possible quality, include not only tableware, vases and decorative earthenware, but also a number of lamps produced in special glazes, fashion accessories and a beautiful hand-painted stove. Several designs are now icons of Dutch design history and are considered to be the cultural heritage of tomorrow.
