Many restoration and renovation projects are awarded to Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum because of the company’s broad, specialist knowledge and traditional craftsmanship. The projects range from the large-scale restoration of old and recent monuments to delicate tile tableaux and the famous Delft flower pyramids.
The decision to continue investing throughout the centuries in traditional manufacturing processes is now bearing considerable fruit. We are often approached early on in a project to perform extensive research into lost formulae, to develop models for moulded pieces and sampling, so that the new production of existing items conforms to today's quality requirements. Many of these projects yield new knowledge and expand our expertise. This not only enables us to accept similar projects, but the acquired knowledge is also used to develop new experimental materials and techniques for contemporary architecture and design.
