In 2007 the Ijsselmeer Dam had been in existence for 75 years. Because the consequences of climate change will have a direct effect on water management and the locks in the Ijsselmeer Dam will in time have to be adapted, the Rijkswaterstaat commissioned the 2D3D design firm to design an information centre. It was soon decided that the three information displays that would be installed outdoors in unsheltered positions and in the salty air should be clad in ceramic tiles. It was a complex assignment for Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum, not only because of the three-dimensional nature of the objects, but also because of the combination of primary colours and the sharpness of the pictures and text.
