Hilversum town hall (1928–1931), designed by the architect W.M. Dudok (1884–1974), one of the most important architects in Dutch architectural history, is generally considered as the crowning glory of his oeuvre. In general the quality of the materials used in the original construction was not very high, therefore in 1990 the decision was made to comprehensively restore the building.
