The last supper
The Last Supper (dinner service)
Design: Studio Job
Materials: hand-painted polychrome faience, gold lustre
Dimensions: various, 13-part service
Remarks: limited edition
The Last Supper is a 13-part dinner service that our company produced in a limited edition for Studio Job. The hand-painted earthenware service with motifs from the Bible, together with stained glass windows entitled The Birth & The Crucifixion and sculptural bronzes, is part of The Gospel, the work that Studio Job presented for the first time in the Chiostri di San Simpliciano at the Salone de Mobile in Milan in 2009.
Our staff collaborated closely with Studio Job to develop a number of new colours for this service. From a technical perspective this was a remarkable move, because the traditional faience technique only allows a small number of colours to be used. The newly developed clear colours are a contemporary response to these traditional colours and attribute their unique quality to the age-old technique for which Tichelaar is renowned.
