About Ton VenhoeVen
Ir. Ton Venhoeven (Apeldoorn, 1954) is architect and founder of VenhoevenCS architecture+urbanism.
VenhoevenCS is an innovative office for sustainable architecture, urban development and infrastructure. Ton Venhoeven established the office in Amsterdam in 1995 and since then VenhoevenCS has developed into an international practice, recognized with numerous publications, awards and exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad.
VenhoevenCS specializes in finding integral, spatial solutions for social and cultural issues, on every possible scale. In our view, research into all aspects of sustainable cities is important. Our research focuses on the design of self-supporting cities and emission free buildings, on the development of micro-networks that make recycling and synergy possible, on the revitalization of building types, multiple land utilization, concentrated building and innovative facade concepts. We believe that the social and cultural aspects in all these subjects are of big importance. The CS in our name refers to it. Founder Ton Venhoeven is supported by a management team, consisting of Jos-Willem van Oorschot, Danny Esselman and Kees Plomp. Together, they are responsible for the daily and long term management of the office. Although the official organization of VenhoevenCS is structured, with clear tasks and responsibilities, in practice it is rather non-hierarchical, with short and informal lines of communication. This allows for quick and efficient processes. It also allows for a perfect combination of bottom-up and top-down flow of information and knowledge.
