New ceramic façade elements offer many possibilities
Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum presented a newly-developed concept of ceramic façade cladding at GEVEL 2014 in Rotterdam and at the Surface Design Show in London. We presented a visual mock-up that illustrates its exceptional features: a recognisably craftsmanlike appearance and a wide variety of configurations and flexibility. In addition to versions in red and smoky black, you can choose from a wealth of glazes in close consultation with our laboratory: an enhancement of ceramic material in which our company has already built up an international reputation and of which we shall be showing several examples.
The mock-ups exhibited at GEVEL 2014 and at the Surface Design Show in London were the result of an intensive period of development and testing in collaboration with ARUP. Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum appears to have succeeded in designing a functional production system for widely applicable façade elements that clearly and uncompromisingly reflect the company’s tradition-based expertise in the refinement of ceramic material.
Reactions from professionals
‘This is a façade cladding system with a striking number of choices and possible combinations. The pattern that combines a lap siding bond with a flying bond is particularly appealing to the imagination.’
The most important features of the new ceramic façade cladding system are:
Recognisable craftsmanlike appearance
Wide range of combinations
Maximum flexibility and efficiency
Colour nuances in red and smoky black
Specific glaze compositions possible for individual jobs
We are currently cooperating with various parties to finalize the technical design, after which the whole system can be certified.
