In 2012 Royal Tichelaar Makkum was contacted by the organisation of Into The Great Wide Open. They felt a connection between their festival and our manufactory. After we had met and they had explained their concept, we felt there were many shared thoughts, so we said yes.
Into The Great Wide Open is a pop festival on Vlieland, a small island on the coast of The Netherlands. A gathering with your friends and family: good music, visual arts, film, oysters and Mother Nature in all its grandeur.
Into The Great Wide Open is a festival for all ages, an initiative of a group of people who know each other from pop music and who are creating their dream festival on Vlieland.
Since one of the clay body’s of which we produce the “Drawn from Clay” pieces designed by Atelier NL, actually is North Sea clay of which the Isle of Vlieland is surrounded, it was not difficult to meet common ground. For the 2012 edition of Into The Great Wide Open, we sort of sponsored local clay bowls which, containing a meal, could be bought during the festival. The bowls turned out to be a huge success. This year, 2013, we follow up with plate from the same series.
